It's been a long time, and a longer journey since I last posted in this blog. I've decided to take it back up for various reasons, the primary one is that writing for me is a journey that helps me process and remember.

Until this past Jan, I was busy for 2 and 1/2 years with an MBA. In the middle of the pandemic, I lost my business. Twice. It's a long and boring story, but those of us who worked and still work in the hospitality industry understand.

I realized in the middle of 2019 and 2020 that I was a better businesswoman than an academic, and while the world stopped, I realized I could use some more formal materials and hooks to hang my ideas on, and so I began studying online with University of the People

This isn't an ad or even a sponsored post for them, but I highly recommend it as I had a really positive experience. It's almost free, and for a fraction of the cost, I have an accredited MBA that kept me from following down the social media rabbit holes and learning about business to apply to my new career.

In May of 2021, broke, in debt, and depressed, I joined a Telegram group of property owners in Granada and put out the vibe. I told everyone that if they needed help selling a property, they could call me.

In less than 15 minutes, I had three messages from three different individuals. I visited with all three, and Miguel Angel was the visionary who struck me the most. We spent several hours speaking before I started as his sales rep in his real estate office, Alfa Granada. Just a few of us, and slowly and surely we started to work.

I caught breaks rather early, selling homes just one and two months into the work, and a great big enormous one in November of 2021. At the Christmas party that hear, even the shadow of COVID-19 and handing in negative Covid tests to attend, could not dampen our pure joy!

Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of work. A lot of talking, coffee times, failed attempts, ups and downs, rejected offers, and personal problems that clients face have been overwhelming and exhausting.

But I'm so incredibly lucky to have found Miguel Angel, rather, he found me. Together, we have seen new projects in Granada, created a new community of a bunch of ex-pats and others who come to make Granada their new home and had a heck of a lot of fun meanwhile between meals, coffees, hikes, and excursions. There is a lot more yet to come and I'm grateful.

More later, but to wrap up, this mental and emotional health journey over the last three years has been unprecedented for me and even more so for all of us trying to ask questions and get some sort of answers post pandemic. As they say in Spanish, there is an antes (before) and despues (after) and we are still trying to figure out what the after looks like. I hope to write more in-depth what that has looked like for me, personally, spiritually and mentally in the last three years and what is to come!
